Not at all what I was expecting. So much better. This young adult story concentrates on a growing relationship that while centered on the central theme of having, or not having sex is not erotica. There wasn't enough depth for me to rate it any higher. Unfortunately, I find this only to common in YA, I did expect more.
If you read the author's note in the book description, it tells you everything you need to know. This book is exactly as advertised. I had about two hours to spare yesterday and really didn't want to delve into two other longer books I was currently reading. This was exactly what I was looking for.
Realistically I give the book 3.5 stars but like in math I rounded up. Now that being said here is why I gave the stars I did.
I like the story. Man that works with his hand and is sexy alpha...love it. The story line was good. I liked Lucas. Alexa on he other hand irritated the life outta me. Now had she been say 18 I would of understood how she acted....but at 23, yeah no. She just seemed really immature to me. And I really thought Lucas was older than he was. Their age just threw me.
Alexa is trying to get away from her friends and take some pictures while on a back-to-nature weekend. She is a photographer with hopes of being the next Ansel Adams. She is stunned in her tracks as she spies on this beautiful man cutting wood near a cabin. B/c he’s famous Lucas thinks Alexa has tracked him down for some unknown reason. Alexa is astonished b/c she can’t believe how good he looks and suddenly she wants to give him her V-card! What happens next is soooo good. He’s older so he shows much more restraint than she desires. DESIRE being the operative word here. What a good book! TOTALLY enjoyed it. No ARC here, I bought this sucker…
I loved these authors and this book! I could not put it down. You've got a man that is trying to get away from it all and has moved to an isolated cabin in the mountains. Lucas Wood is a painter with a inspiration block. Alexa is a photography student who gets lost and finds Lucas and his cabin and the sparks start to fly! Alexa gets frustrated when Lucas refuses to sleep with her unless she marries him. Fun and twisted!
I read this a long time ago and realized I never reviewed it. It's not great, but it was entertaining. I had some issues with it though. When the H described his ex-wife's cellulite butt and still loving her despite how old she was getting, I was kinda put off. How does that have anything to do with anything? Sounds extremely shallow. Am I like supposed to be like oh how gracious of you. But then he falls in lust with the perky, sexy girl next door type who doesn't have an ounce of fat and is like an actress out of a porn. Yeah he's amazing. Big heart on that guy. I guess this is his reward for being cheated on by his horrible ex? So weird, especially since this is a book targeted to women, so what's up with the body shaming? Oh well, moving on. The h doesn't really have a personality, she's like just something for him to objectify. Also her bestie is a real piece of work, not so kind and is very rash and judgmental. That riff just seemed like it came out of nowhere. This isn't something I would ever re-read and I was bummed I bought it to be honest.
