Lets Learn About Animals that Hibernate
Around the world, there are a lot of animals who like to sleep through the winter, or other times of the year.
This action is called hibernation (hi*ber*nay*tion) . Many people think only bears do this but there are other animals who like a long nap too.
You can see animals running all around digging holes and looking for nuts on the ground and other food that will help them go through the long winter months.
Some animals sleep in trees, like squirrels do. Some sleep in caves or hollows, like bears do. Many of these animals try to find a nice hole in the ground because even when it is very cold outside, their home stays warm when it is underground.
They want to be safe from the snow, wind and rains of springtime. Their home has to be just right and fit them so that it can stay warm as they sleep through all kinds of weather.
Not all animals sleep the whole winter so let us look at the two kinds of hibernating animals, light sleepers and deep sleepers.
Light Sleepers are animals like bears and raccoons that wake up from time to time. On warm days they may want to go out and take a walk around.
Heavy Sleepers are called True Hibernators. They go into a very deep sleep in the winter. If you saw them they might even look like they were not alive any more, that is how slow they breathe.
Lets find out more about these two types of animals. You may even have seen some getting ready for Winter near where you live.
Can you guess what some of them are before you read more? Why not write them down and see how many you can guess.
We will learn a little about each animal and how it prepares for winter.

Did You Know? Animals That Hibernate In Winter edition by MR Kaye Children eBooks
This was one of the few books I have actually purchased for my Kindle, I generally try to find free ones. I regret it. There are misspellings and grammatical errors on so many pages I lost count. I purchased it to build a lesson for a kindergarten co-op, but couldn't even take it seriously when I began reading it. To me if you publish a book and can't be bothered to have somebody proofread it carefully, all the material in that book loses credibility.Product details

Did You Know? Animals That Hibernate In Winter edition by MR Kaye Children eBooks Reviews
As they say, you are never to old to learn and I certainly learnt a thing or two about animals whilst reading this book with my friend's daughter. The animal pictures are so cute my friend's daughter enjoyed just looking at the animal pictures and talking about them! A great book which your child will enjoy reading by themselves or with you.
I really learned a lot from this book. I always knew that bears hibernated, but I had no idea how many other animals did that - including bees. This is a great book for the any child that loves nature and learning more about how animals live. There is so much in this book, that I wouldn't read it to a child all in one sitting. Read it slowly, reflect on it, and really take in this great information about the living habits of so many animals.
What a fun book and informative book! My boys and I had a great time reading it together and learned all kinds of new things about how animals hibernate and which ones do - even bees! My boys loved the cute pictures as well. What a perfect time to learn about hibernation as we head into the winter months.
So beautifully laid out, presented in logical, informative segments and wonderful images. Adults and children will learn from this book and I know you will enjoy the reading experience. Congratulations to the author.
The amount of information in this book is astounding. I was amazed to learn how many different creatures belong to one of the two categories of hibernators. You'll have to get the book to learn what the two categories are. I highly recommend that you do just that.
Although this book isn't long, (a good thing... it's a fun and fast read) I was surprised at the details and depth of information it contained. I learned a lot and did not find any of the info boring. If you are looking for a good primer on several different kinds of animals that hibernate, I'd say, look no further! An especially great book for young folks to learn from, it had many colorful pictures that I also thoroughly enjoyed viewing.
This is not your average run-of-the-mill kids/animal book. This was a very fun, very engaging and very informative read, and I have to admit, though the kids learned a lot, I think I may have learned even more! I mean who ever knew how MANY types of animals hibernated--or that there are both "light" AND "heavy" sleepers! A truly enjoyable book, and the photos of the sleeping animals were adorable! Highly recommended.
